The Mobi One Project is an alternative live/work solution based on the vanlife concept. With the ability to travel freely and have a safe environment to live in, the idea is to travel and teach/mentor others in photography, filmmaking, creative arts and living. Having the mobility to reach various teaching venues such as schools, colleges, galleries, retreat centers, studios and other creative spaces to teach and mentor groups and individuals in their creative pursuits will be a great asset.

While I have not yet settled on a particular model of van for this project, I’m most interested in either a Ford Transit (above) or a Dodge RAM (below), though I am open to other possibilities.

One very important aspect of the project is of course the layout of the van. While I have researched a great deal of van builds, I have found my needs will be simple and minimal compared to many others. The main focus will be on a working vehicle with emphasis on the computer station and all the necessary features to make the most of the “creative bay.” As most van builds include an area for a bed in the back, this project will instead make use of a swiveling recliner as both a computer chair and a sleeping spot, thus freeing up a good deal of space in the vehicle.

My layout (below) will put the emphasis on creative work and maximizing the use of space.
