By utilizing LUTs in a program with a dedicated LUT tool (Nitro Photo and Exposure X5 come to mind) that easily lets you import and organize your LUTs, as well as control the level of intensity is vital to getting the exact look you want. Programs like Affinity Photo and Photoshop allow you to apply LUTs on a separate layer, allowing you to adjust both Opacity and Blending modes for truly unique effects. Your video editor of choice (Premier, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, LumaFusion) should give you equally robust control over your LUTs.

Some like to apply them at the beginning of their workflow so that they can use the other color and editing tools to fine-tune the look just the way they like. Others like to apply LUTs at the end of their editing to give a finished look to their video or still images.
