:: About Trace ::

So, what would you like to know? What can you deduce from that “focused” countenance? I sometimes use big words, not to impress, but simply for fun. I also say, “dag-nabbit!” from time to time to the bemusement of others. Fact is I am a teacher, mentor and artist in the photographic arts. I begin with teacher first as that is what I have been doing since I started learning the language of photography in the analog wet darkroom in high school. As I learned from a gifted teacher, I helped other students who saw what I was doing and wanted to learn more. It was a natural role for me as I took to photography as if it were my native language.

I am a perpetual explorer and innovator using this language of drawing with light. I have experimented with innumerable techniques and ways of using light and processes to create unique, sometimes one-of-a-kind images. I believe the best teachers are ones who listen to their students and what their goals are and help them achieve those goals… and to even go beyond them. I bring a lifetime of deep knowledge of the art and craft of photography to students and those I mentor, loving the collaborative nature of the way I teach. The best teachers are forever students themselves. I consider myself a “planter of creative seeds” and helping those seeds grow in others is the privilege of a lifetime.

Honestly, the best way to know more about me is to read my well illustrated “Writings on the Walls”. There's lots of good stuff on there (this is a good link to start on), and you’re quite likely to learn somethings new about photography, art and the creative life… or so I’m told.
